KRISTENE SMITH, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Owner/Administrator
With almost 20 years of experience in the healthcare field, Kristene Smith is charting a unique path for herself and is fast becoming known for her integrative, functional, whole person approach to mental health. Her journey started as a certified nursing assistant and has continued to advance from there. As a person of faith, Kristene truly believes that she is walking in her calling and purpose on earth. She is a living example of what the bible refers to as going from strength to strength.
Through education and diverse experiences in nursing including medical surgical, cardiac telemetry she has expanded her knowledge and refined her approach to patient care. She became a bachelor’s prepared nurse in 2007 and has gone on to earn two master’s degrees in nursing.
While Kristene has amassed some enviable professional accomplishments it is her personal life that fueled her journey towards the specialty of mental health. She grew up in a home where she was doted on by her father but that same father would put her mother in the hospital. Kristene grew up to be a survivor of this same kind of abuse. She removed herself and her child from this toxic environment but enduring these experiences left her with issues of depression and anxiety that so profoundly affected her that she attempted suicide twice. Kristene has rebuilt her life with a tenacity of will and by grace of God. Kristene is a survivor who refuses to be dominated. She is a mental health provider who empathizes with the experience of her patients. She is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and strives to bring all this together to heal her patients.
